day 15, mile 636.8, Clifton Ranger Station, Three Way, AZ

We flew through today and made it to the ranger station, whose yard we're camping in, by 4:30. There's a drive-in theater next door but, alas, it seems to be out of service.

We're camping in the side yard of a bar, where the beer is in cans, the bartender has a texas mustache, and the locals play "i want to break free"(?) over and over. Today we did exactly the miles we need to average for the rest of this trip.

day 13, mile 523.6, Globe, AZ

what is this, like 6 motels in 13 nights? so, today was slow. the
wind did it. now we're going into Apache reservation land, where it
will cost $40 a night TO CAMP! so we stopped short and camped in
Budget Motel for $30. also, i checked a coverage map, and it looks
like my phone won't be working for up to a week. so the updates might
be absent for a while. DON'T WORRY! WE MIGHT BE FINE!

I'm posting this the next day, because there was no signal where we
camped. I still have no cellphone reception (WTF, Cingular?), but
oddly enough, i did find a wifi signal.

We got off too late to make it out of the Phoenix-Mega-Tropolis-Area. The Westernaire is really nice. And cheap. We're watching Rear Window! Big miles tomorrow!

Drove around all day, getting lost. Went to the Apple Store(!) Saw, curse of the were-rabbit at glendale drive-in. Try to get back on our squirrely metal steeds tomorrow.
